The Dachshund is a small dog originally bred for hunting. They can be either short or long coated dogs, (regular grooming is required for long coats). A great companion dog for adults they are intelligent and obedient. They tolerate animals and strangers, but children should be supervised. A small dog with a loud bark, the Dachshund guards its territory.
